Interview at TOT Gandia 11/05/2010
You can have a closer look if you download it. A week ago I was contacted to have a page in a local newspaper in my hometown in Spain. And here you have the results... in Spanish though. Add Comment New York in Spain 03/25/2010
Some of my cyanotypes are in Rausell, a cool fancy restaurant in the heart of Gandia, an old town in Valencia. If you are interested in visiting them, you'll enjoy Mediterranean food with a modern touch! Cyanotypes from my holga 120N 03/10/2010
I've been teaching a workshop about cyanotypes in Gandia, in a cool cultural association and at the same time I tried to use my negatives from my holga 120N to make cyanotypes. This are the results. Hope you like them. I'll be trying more experiments like this soon!! The way to the restrooms 02/16/2010
Monday we had the opening night of the brand new cultural association ART i MÉS my mother has just started in Gandia (Spain). I've done the logo and website, flyers and brochures. I really enjoyed designing the restroom's signals. Two associations share the space: Agrupació Astronómica de la Safor and ART i MÉS so we decided to go with something related to both of them. The peaces are made of enamel on cooper by my mom. I just love them!! Mural Project 01/21/2010
This is a project that came to me last week about designing a mural for a cafe in Valencia, Spain. The wall is 7,5meters long and 3 meters high. Everything in the cafe is gray, white and dark red, so we needed some color to cheer it up, and some organic lines to break the stiffness of the place. I also designed the signs for the restrooms, the one with the kids is for the main door, and once inside the restrooms, you have pink for girls and blue for boys. I know it's a bit topic but the patterns in each sign aren't. Hopefully we'll have the results in a few days! More Xmas cards 12/27/2009
This card is for an initiative of my friends in Canary Islands. They have this web where you can find different local artists IN_FUSION and they asked different artists to send their Xmas cards to merry everyone. I sent mine and I really love all of them. There are a lot of talent there!! "En defensa de los Japicrismas" Today was the opening evening of a charity exhibition in Gandia (Valencia, Spain) on behalf of the Fundación Huellas. This organization raises founds to help children sexually abused in El Salvador. They did the big night today, the Children's Rights Day. I have two illustrations in the exhibition. Two drawings of popular tales. We had to focus in their rights of the children to do our paintings. I wanted to demand that we should dedicate more time to our children, time to play, time to share. They deserve our attention and our care. Here you have my two drawings and a view of the big night! NY Invaders exhibition in Valencia, Spain 11/05/2009
Next Thursday (12nd November) my NY Invaders II will be in Café Tertulia. C/ Alta in the El Carmen hood. I'll be participating in the Festival Incubarte, a nice art festival that tries to promote Valencian artists bringing them closer to the people. Many artists from many disciplines will show their works during that weekend, so if you have the chance to be there, it's going to be a really nice arty weekend in Valencia. Hope all of you enjoy my work too! | Laura Alvarez is a
