Laura Alvarez was born in Valencia, Spain.

She finishes the Fine Arts Degree in 2001 in the Universitat Politecnica of Valencia. She also spent a semester on an Erasmus exchange in KIAD (Kent Institute of Art and Design).

Always interested in learning more, is always trying new things attending many different workshops such as batik, silk printing, improv, theatre, photography, typography, hand made bookbinding, etc.

After starting the Doctorate in Valencia she has been working in different companies as a creative, graphic designer, theater set designer for the University and Director of Communications and Public Relations in a private school in Valencia.

On January 2009 she came to live and work to New York.  Since then she has been illustrating, designing greeting cards, wrapping paper, patterns and preparing different exhibitions. Since September she has been also a regular artist vendor at Union Square.

She has taught different workshops at the NYC Botanical Garden, also with the Bronx Council of the Arts and other institutions in NY and Spain.

On 2010 Laurastarted as an Art Specialist instructor at the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood with the Yeshiva Program and Yomawha Summer Camp.

Right now she's working for SoBRO as a teaching artist in their after school program and also freelancing, creating posters, promos and corporate images for different companies and institutions in USA, PR and Spain.

Laura Alvarez nace en Valencia, España.

Acaba Bellas Artes en la Universitat Politecnica de Valencia en 2001. Durante un semestre disfruta de una beca en KIAD, Reino Unido (Kent Institute of Art and Design).

Siempre interesada en seguir aprendiendo, realiza numerosos cursos de diferentes disciplinas artistícas como la fotografía,  encuadernación artesanal, batik, serigrafía,  improvisación, tipografía, teatro, etc.

Despues de empezar el doctorado en diseño grafico en Valencia, entra a trabajar en diferentes empresas valencianas como creativo, diseñadora gráfica, diseñadora de decorados para el Politécnico. Después ejerció de directora de comunicaciones y relaciones púbicas de un colegio privado en Valencia.

Desde enero de 2009 vive y trabaja en New York donde empezó diseñando postales de felicitación, papeles de regalo, estampados de telas e ilustrando y preparando diferentes proyectos y exposiciones. Desde septiembre la puedes encontrar los domingos en Union Square vendiendo impresiones de sus ilustraciones y cuadros junto a otros artistas.

Además ha dado cursos en el NY Botanical Garden, otros con el Bronc Council of the Arts, y otras organizaciones tanto en NY como en España.

En 2010 empezó a trabajar como profesora Especialista en Arte en YM & YWHA of Washingthon Heights & Inwood en el programa Yeshiva y en el Campamento de verano Yomawha. 

Actualmente se dedica a trabajar como profesora de arte para SoBRO en su programa de actividades extraescolares para colegios públicos del sur del Bronx, además de crear posters, promociones e imágenes corporativas para diferentes empresas e instituciones en USA, PR y España.
