A while ago I painted a mural with the children of the Melrose community during Bronx Music @ Melrose: Salsa! organized by WhEDCO and The Bronx Music Heritage. The mural is located at Elton and Brook Ave in The Bronx. It took us a little while to put it up, but it's finally there for everyone to see!!
The Bronx Band will be playing happily at their location until the new Bronx Music Heritage Center is built.
#Inktober is back. This is the third year I commit to create a drawing a day during October to celebrate Halloween, my favorite holiday of the year. Plenty os skulls, owls, bats, cats and witches will be coming to my Instagram and FaceBook. You can follow me, that's be the best way to be posted!
It's not a secret I am fascinated by scary things, my way of coping with situations I worry about or I try to understand, is drawing about it. If you want to join me in this adventure, use the hashtag #DrawOct, I'll find them and repost your illustrations!
Have a terrific October!!
Inked Dreams is a series of watercolors on paper where I played with traditional tattoos, recreating them on my own style.
The show has been extended and will be up at the library until October 30th. If you didn't make it to the opening reception last September 1st, you can still go and check the illustrations out.
The meaning of the old school Americana tattoos is fascinating. I am fan of images with a story behind them. Tattoos were mostly achievements or superstition. They are the proof hat you lived, your story in your body. I took those stories and made them mine.
