Last Saturday I had the honor to participate with three of my pieces in the Art For Autism Fundraiser at El Fogon, All proceeds will go to Autism Speaks and Parents Of Autistic Children, two great organizations.
Here you see some of the people who came to support, the group of artist that donated their pieces, and on the right, the little lady that got my artwork during the fundraiser and her with the artwork already hanged up in her room.
It was an amazing experience for all of us!
Thanks Ed Alvarez for the pictures!
I will be part of this Art fundraiser for autism awareness. next April 19th at El Fogon, in the Bronx. From 2 to 7pm. Help us help others
In a few days, May 10th, the doodles I made for the USA National Doodle Day will be available for auction on eBay.
These doodles have a very important aim: the funds they raise will benefit NF, Inc. Network, an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. NF is more common than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington's Disease combined. Funds raised from the Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure.
To learn more about NF, please visit www.nfnetwork.org.

Last winter I met the director of the Create Collective in a workshop I took in Art for Change, a Harlem community center.
Last week they contacted me to ask if I would be able to do something for an event they are having on September 27th at Bogota Latin Bistro, so they can rise funds to continue bringing art to our communities.
Time was tight but the information was clear, all I needed was an idea. They said " we would like a simple image evoking dinner and the arts" and I came up with this idea.
Hope you like it and if you are gonna be in NY by the time, that you can go and collaborate with the cause!

“This piece is one of a series with fishes I made last year when I first arrived to NY. As Haiti is an island I thought sending one of this images working with water and sea life would be attractive to possible buyers. As an artist I have not many resources, and giving out my work is the best way I can find to help right now.”
Art Loves Haiti is a way for artists and people who love art to contribute to the aid efforts in Haiti. It is a collective auction of artwork, that contributes directly to the children and families affected by the earthquake Haiti on 12 January 2010.
Proceeds from this auction will go to Save the Children Haiti Emergency Appeal. The earthquake in Haiti on 12 January 2010 affected 1.8 million people living in Haiti. The death toll has been estimated to be over 100,000. Save The Children has over 200 staff on the ground in Haiti, with the priority of saving childrens lives by distributing emergency aid, including food and medical supplies and field hospitals to provide children and families with life-saving assistance. They are setting up spaces where children are protected from abuse, exploitation, and family separation and are able to access safe and quality education.
Art Loves Haiti was conceived on January 14, 2010, when artist Sarah Larnach and musician Pip Brown auctioned a rare piece of Ladyhawke artwork to contribute to the aid effort in Haiti. The auction received an overwhelming response from compassionate individuals wanting to help. Art Loves Haiti aims to relieve the suffering, and help rebuild the lives of children and their families affected by the tragedy. Visit the facebook page for information.
