LaurAlvarez at 'BARON AMBROSIA IS DEAD' MOVIE PREMIERE & GRANDMASTER MELE MEL CONCERT SPECIAL GUEST BLACK U.N.

And I decided that that was the perfect place to sell them all.

Last weekend and this coming weekend I'm part of the crew working at the Spooky nights of the New York Botanical Garden. My friend Lucrecia Novoa asked me if I wanted to wear one of her creations. How would I resist??? I think she is a magnificent artist that lives and breathes art. Her pieces are full of life, mystery and creativity. It's a pleasure to be sharing my art and my time with four beautiful women in a wonderful place like the Botanical Garden.
There is just one Barnes and Noble store in the Bronx, and yesterday I was invited together with another artists and writers to talk about our culture, our life and show our art.
I had a blast. Friends came by, people was interested in what we had to say, and sharing our culture with others is always enriching and inspiring.
We are having a FREE 8-week workshop series at Soundview Park for local youth this summer, bringing in teaching artists and guest speakers to talk about art, nature and environmentalism.
The kids will be working with different mediums such as acrylics, watercolors and pastels, and their work will culminate in a showing at the field house at the end of the summer.

Here I am, with my two illustrations during the opening reception at the "Women in Comics" exhibition at Poe Park Visitor Center in the Bronx.
TV was there, many interesting people was there and we all had a great time with the artists panel discussion and the wonderful art exhibited there.
Thank you Ray and Regine for inviting me to participate in the show. It was a great day!
You can still come and see the exhibition, it will be up until July 31st with a closing reception Saturday 27th.
At Poe Park Visitor Center, 2640 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY.
It's open from Tuesday to Saturday 9 to 5pm.
Despite I don't like to hear myself talking, and it gets worst when the interview is in English, you can't find the words, and nerves get you. Here it is one of the interviews I had during the last Bronx Heroes Comic Con 5. This is the link to Sugar Cayne website http://www.sugarcayne.com/2013/05/laura-alvarez-bronx-heroes-comic-con/
Last week illustration Friday had "farewell" as the chosen word for the week.
My friend Leila from South Africa was visiting NY and staying with me for a few days. She left on Thursday to Canada and she wanted to leave in a hot air balloon. So I draw it!
This week's illustration Friday word is train, and here you have my take on it.
Skating on a flying 6 train.
Hi there, a few months ago I started this project with Tony Colón (SST3) and now it's as real, as real as a magical unicorn can get in Laura's world. So, here you have, a brand new website, and a brand new Etsy page, where you can buy our creations.
This is just the beginning of the spring/summer collection, with 5 more designs to be released very soon. So make sure you get the designs you like before it's too late!!!
