So many artists and public gathered at Tompkins Square Park to participate in the 9th Music Festival. I was invited to come and paint live during the concert. I met great artists, collaborated with Carlos Pinto and had the best time in a wonderful Lower East Side afternoon!

Artists in this exhibition revisit, re-imagine, appropriate and respond to iconography in noir that addresses current events, crime, urban life, gender roles, isolation and displacement through drawings, illustrations, painting, photography and video. Participating artists: Laura Alvarez, Tyrone Brown-Osborne, Carey Clark, Alyssa Clear, Robert De Jesus, Elizabeth Glushko & Steve Pavlovsky, Daniel Hauben, Rasheed Humphrey, Patrick Jewell, Nikki Johnson, Jayson Keeling, Gabrielle Lopez, Jeanette May, Osjua Newton, Gelah Penn, Nestor Perez-Moliere, Jaime Permuth, Ethan Shoshan, Shira Toren, Nitza Tufiño, Dennesa Usher, Boo Lynn Walsh, Joe Wippler, and Michael Young. *Film noir genre generally refers to mystery and crime drama films produced from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. Movies of this genre were characteristically shot in black and white, and featured stories involving femme fatales, doomed heroes or anti-heroes, and tough, cynical detectives. Other characteristics include low key or artificial lighting, scenes shot at night or under the rain, blurriness and voiced over narrations. The mood in noir films is often pessimistic, implying fear, treason or imminent danger. Saturday, February 13th, from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Bronx Documentary Center (614 Courtlandt Avenue (@ 151st St.) Bronx, New York 10451) I will be hosting a painting class, where you can come to learn how to recreate my LoveBirds piece.
We will provide all the materials and some hours d'oeuvre, you bring the drinks (beer or wine). Come with your partner, your friend, or on your own to meet other great people and network! This has been a very busy summer; one of the things I have done is organizing a live painting event at Boogie on the Boulevard with BxArts Factory and HeavenBound7 Sk8 Shop. Henry, the owner of the store, repurposed about 20 old skate decks sanded them and prep them to be painted. Many artists came out that day to encourage the community to be healthy and to show how every artist has a process and creativity is everywhere!

BxArt Factory will be celebrating Women History Month with their Art Exhibition: Innuendos: The Voices of 10 Bronxite Women I will be presenting the piece "I'm every woman" It's a reflection of what we are taught, what we accept, what we overcome and what we aspire to be. We all struggle with our bodies, our insecurities, our fears, and we have to learn from the experiences we live, trying not to make the same mistake twice. We know that the issues that still affect women today are topics that must be talked about often but we hope that with this exhibition we continue the conversation and bring awareness to the community. Innuendos opens at the Andrew Freedman Home (1125 Grand Concourse) on Friday, March 6th and runs through April 1st! There will be an opening reception on the 6th but there is also have some great programming: Wednesday, March 18th we will welcome La Pluma y La Tinta and their event titled New Voices in the Boroughs: The Bronx (Buy tickets here) Friday, March 20th we will have artists Ijeoma D. Iheanacho will present her project reImagining with photos, videos and a panel of some of the women that participated in the project. In the last months I've meet wonderful people here in the Bronx. I love challenges and trying new things, so when I was asked to paint a skate deck I just jumped on it! Here it is, my first one. It will be exhibited at Heaven Bound 7 Skate Shop and soon I will be finishing more. So stay tuned!!! If you go to see the play "They Call Me La Lupe" where Lauren Vélez does an amazing one woman show, you'll find my Orishas in the Hall of the teatro Latea at 107 Suffolk Street, 2nd floor in the Lower East Side, NY.
