Mural created for the NYCHA development with the Tenant Association and the Public Housing Community Fund, with a grant from Lincoln Center. These murals were painted to beautify the area facing Amsterdam Avenue. Some neighbors participated in the process, and the area is much brighter now!

Last week, I worked on this mural for Garden Towers, a new complex that opened on Boston Road to service our seniors. I am pleased about the result, and most importantly, I am thrilled that all the seniors living there and the staff love the mural!
This was a tricky one because there are two walls, the back wall and the one in the greenhouse, that is 3 feet apart from the back. A scaffolding was built to paint the top and then the bottom was painted with a ladder... good times!!! This June has been a busy one! I finished my first mural with Thrive Collective in PS85 in the Bronx. It was a very interesting theme, because the school wanted the artist to work with the 4th grade curriculum to create a colorful staricase representing different countries and traditions. I took the book "My Librarian is a Camel" and created six different ambiances, Peru, Thailand, Indonesia, Kenya, England and Canada. Those countries in specific times of the year they get their books from their libraries in very different ways. An elephant, a camel, a bike, a bus, by mail... It was a fun project!!c
I'm thrilled to share that we've finished the Norwood 2.0 mural! It took a lot of hard work, but with the help of volunteers, we completed the painting in early June. This week, I returned with another volunteer to protect the mural with an anti-graffiti coat. This will make it easier for us to touch up the mural if it ever gets tagged. What's even better is that the neighbors have started to take care of the street by fixing the tree beds and adding lights to the wall. It's amazing to see everyone coming together to beautify our community!
Let's Repaint the Norwood Mural
Come join us for a fun day of painting and creativity at the Norwood Mural! We will be gathering at 211 E 207th St to add some fresh colors and designs to this beloved community artwork. No painting experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands (and clothes) dirty. Let's make this mural shine again together! See you there! Interested in more dates to volunteer? Sign up HERE This project is made possible with regrant funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Bronx Council on the Arts. Last spring, I was fortunate to receive a SU-CASA Artist in Residency Grant from the Bronx Council on the Arts to teach my "Inkblot Magic" workshops. We had a successful run of art-making, met amazing people, created numerous art pieces, and wrote many stories. For the final event, we presented the book I published which featured their stories and inkblots, and we had an exhibition for everyone to come and enjoy. We even had a final paint party!
