Last October, like I've done for the past few years, I commited to create one drawing a day during Inktober. This year I wanted to do something different, and instead of using traditional inking tools, I decided to go with my iPad and Procreate. As a twist, I combined prompts from two different lists: TheyDraw and Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. This past year, besides self-publishing my first children's book, I decided I wanted to push harder into my illustrator career. Networking, learning and mingling with other illustrators is something important. So far it has been a nice road, I am hoping to continue bettering my style, improving my portfolio and with that, my chances to make it!
"Black Lives Matter" is a statement about police brutality against Black People, it is a statement about how after years the slavery was abolished, they still have to fight for their right to be innocent until proven guilty, they still have to go to the street to fight because the Police, the ones that should be defending them, are killing them without being punished.
It is NOT an opportunity for anyone else that is not black to bring to our attention how much that one time they suffered for whatever reason. Police brutality is happening DAILY to black people. There is no way to hide your color. The only way to fix this is to recognize what is happening and changing behaviours. Please, and thank you.
I woke up to a cool proposal " Could you illustrate my tag? "
I took on the challenge and created a weird three eyed monster face in my iPad. I like how fast I can create just with my fingers on a screen. It's like finger paint for adults. No mess, no clean up, just finger paint! I've been thinking for a while if I should upgrade my iPad or if I should get a Wacom instead... hard decisions. Have a great Labor Day everyone 🙋🏻 Some time ago I found this project and I thought it was a really good way to have some fun on a personal illustration.
I created this "Skater Gioconda" wearing one of my designs for BadAss NYC. A self portrait using ink on paper and then coloring it on the computer. You can find it here and also check out all other entries, they are worth! Here I am, at the People's Choice - CanvasPop 1197 Photo Exhibit.
Last night it was the opening of this exhibition I'm part of, with my picture of the Edgar Allan Poe's Cottage I took this fall while a friend of mine was visiting me. This beautiful house is in a cute park in the Bronx and it's a very recommendable visit. Soho Gallery For Digital Art was hosting this show where we saw pretty amazing photos. If you wanna have a look it will be from 2-18-2013 through 2-22-2013 at 138 Sullivan St. NY. This week's word for Illustration Friday is "chicken". For me is still a mystery... what was first, the chicken or the egg???
The Fish Detective is my point of view for Haus Stories www.hausstories.com/ a nice project I found.
You are still on time, they will close the haus when they arrive to 100 entries. Again last minute illo. Just realized it was that late... So here you have my "Star gazing" approach!
