Last week BX200.com went live. I was invited to be part of it a while ago. I think it's a great initiative by Bronx artists, for Bronx artists.
It has been a tough road since I first came to NY and became a Bronxite, but I wouldn't change a thing. I am proud of what I do, proud of my friends and what everyone around me accomplish. Go check this directory now! Despite I don't like to hear myself talking, and it gets worst when the interview is in English, you can't find the words, and nerves get you. Here it is one of the interviews I had during the last Bronx Heroes Comic Con 5. This is the link to Sugar Cayne website http://www.sugarcayne.com/2013/05/laura-alvarez-bronx-heroes-comic-con/ Since 2010 I've been part of this community of artists based in Spain, Léptica that try to give other artists a platform to express themselves and their obsessions.
As you all know one of my obsessions is coffee. And I couldn't resist the temptation of sending some of my illustrations for this issue. There you have a little interview they did, and one of the illustrations. Hope you like it!!! A month ago Carla Candia from El Diario came to the Mott Haven Open Studio Tour, where some artists from the Bronx were showing our work. And here you have the article! Enjoy ^_^
You can have a closer look if you download it.
A week ago I was contacted to have a page in a local newspaper in my hometown in Spain. And here you have the results... in Spanish though. This July I'm in the cover of Wonderlance Magazine, a monthly publication with loads on information and great interviews, film reviews, articles and artist.
Today is up in the Creative Boom site the banner I designed for them. I love their ideas and their news. I strongly recommend you to follow them!!
