As Valentine's Day approaches, I wanted to tell you that no matter how many gifts, cards, flowers or chocolates you get or don't get, you should love yourself first!
I see a lot of people not valuing themselves enough just because they feel they are not loved the way they believe they have to be loved. Relationships are not easy, but at the same time they make us humans. Lo, let's start taking care of ourselves, our mental health, our sanity, and then we can worry about the rest. Now take some ME time and color the latest coloring page on my Have Fun Section! I wish everyone a happy and healthy Valentine's Day. I was given the opportunity to create another mural at the Uptown Grand Scale Project. This time I choose part of a Maya Angelou's poem that really resonates with me and the moment we live in now.
Life is tough and we all need someone else’s help sometimes to get out of the dark cloud. So, "Be a Rainbow in Someone Else's Cloud" This painting was created live during the ARTE virtual annual fundraiser. The attendants answered to the question: What does your vision of a more just world look like? And from those answers I took key words and created this painting. Soon the painting will be auctioned and will find a new home. I really miss live art events. I miss talking to people, learning something from everyone. Interacting and being social. Sigh. I was approached to volunteer for a project I thought it was genius, pair artists with expecting mothers to paint their bellies with the vord VOTE. They asked every mother why they decided to do this in the times we are living, and all of them coincide that they are doing it for the future of their children.
Voting is your civil duty and your right. So many people died so we can vote, think about that. Vote for the ones that can't, the ones that are in prison, the ones at the hospital and can't go. Use your right. Bump the Vote
Learn and get inspired by the people that are worth looking up to. Discard the rest...
We spend so much time Happy New Year peoples of the world... get your 12 grapes ready, eat them right before 12 o’clock and your 2018 will be filled with good stuff 😀🍇🥂
A few months ago a friend was looking for artists to participate in a beautification project that will bring a local marker to an underpass of the Bruckner expressway near The Bronx River. I was so excited about it, I created a sketch after I was explained the project and sent it. They loved it so I was in. A week ago I got delivered the 6x4 feet board and I finished over the weekend.
All the 12 boards will be installed soon and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place April 27. Save the date and I'll keep all of you posted! project This summer I have been very busy, but I also had time to share time with friends and celebrate their happiness and successes. New babies on their way, wedding anniversaries, birthday parties. I like to give special gifts. I believe in creating memories, images that will last years and will bring you back to that moment.
Instead of flowers, give a painting, instead of baby clothes that they will wear once, give some love... Stay cool and keep celebrating! I am exhausted. It's been an incredible experience to be part of the 2016 chashama Gala. Yesterday I painted over 250 words on a canvas, during 5 hours straight.
This unbelievable event takes place every year in the heart of NYC, 4 Times Square, where more than a hundred artists showcase or perform their art. I had a participatory performance, called Wall of Words, where people was asked to write a word on a paper, words that inspire them, that they feel identify with, or that they didn't like and wanted to get rid of it. It had a great acceptance and everyone was very excited to see their word written on the canvas. I had the most amazing helpers, Natalie and Yolanda, getting words from the attendees and helping me with the crowd management. I couldn't ask for better friends. |
