Inspired by her first contact with Yoruba beliefs, these pieces celebrate the forces between the spiritual world and the here now. They represent the positive energy that the Orishas can influence in our everyday lives.
Special Showcase from my student from Emolior Academy, Bronx.
Dr. Drum: Co-Founder and musical director of BombaYo Afro-Puerto Rican Youth Project.
I had this idea on my mind for a while and lately I took the time to make it happen. I had this image of the faces of the Saints inside a circle surrounded by some of their attributes.
I think they are coming out good. Hope you like them. I'll be doing prints soon so you'll be able to have them in your altar and enjoy them with your Santos.
If you go to see the play "They Call Me La Lupe" where Lauren Vélez does an amazing one woman show, you'll find my Orishas in the Hall of the teatro Latea at 107 Suffolk Street, 2nd floor in the Lower East Side, NY.
Some paintings and prints from the saints available before and after the show.
