Laura Alvarez was born in Valencia, Spain.

She finishes the Fine Arts Degree in 2001 in the Universitat Politecnica of Valencia. She also spent a semester on an Erasmus exchange in KIAD (Kent Institute of Art and Design).

Always interested in learning more, is always trying new things attending many different workshops such as batik, silk printing, improv, theatre, photography, typography, hand made bookbinding, etc.

After starting the Doctorate in Valencia she has been working in different companies as a creative, graphic designer, theater set designer for the University and Director of Communications and Public Relations in a private school in Valencia.

On January 2009 moved to New York. She first started as working as a graphic designer and slowly moved into the educational aspect of her career, teaching different workshops at the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Council of the Arts, YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood, YUCA Arts, SoBRO and other institutions in NY and Spain.

Right now she's working as a Playground Assistant at the Poe Park Visitor Center in the Bronx, also freelancing, creating posters, promos and corporate images for different companies and institutions in USA, PR and Spain.

Recently she got the SPARC (Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide) Residency to work in one senior center in the Bronx. As part of a program the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs is running.

Acaba Bellas Artes en la Universitat Politecnica de Valencia en 2001. Durante un semestre disfruta de una beca en KIAD, Reino Unido (Kent Institute of Art and Design).

Siempre interesada en seguir aprendiendo, realiza numerosos cursos de diferentes disciplinas artistícas como la fotografía, encuadernación artesanal, batik, serigrafía, improvisación, tipografía, teatro, etc.

Despues de empezar el doctorado en diseño gráfico en Valencia, entra a trabajar en diferentes empresas  como creativo, diseñadora gráfica y diseñadora de decorados para el Politécnico. Después ejerció de directora de comunicaciones y relaciones púbicas de un colegio privado en Valencia.

Desde enero de 2009 vive y trabaja en New York donde empezó como diseñadora pero poco a poco se ha introducido en el mundo de la educación dando cursos como "teaching artist" en el New York Botanical Garden, Bronx Council of the Arts, YM & YWHA of Washingthon Heights & Inwood, YUCA Arts, SoBRO y otras organizaciones tanto en NY como en España.

Actualmente trabaja como Playground Assistant en el Poe park Visitor Center en el Bronx. Todo esto sin olvidar su carrera artística y freelance creando posters, promociones e imágenes corporativas para diferentes empresas e instituciones en USA, PR y España.

Recientemente le han concedido la residencia artística SPARC (Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide) del Departamento de Cultura de la ciudad de Nueva York, para impartir uno curso en un centro de personas mayores en el Bronx.
