I would like to invite you to a FREE workshop I will be teaching on
Saturday, April 9th Saturday April 23rd From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bronx Music Heritage Center Laboratory 1303 Louis Nine Boulevard, Bronx, NY, 10459 During this two-day workshop we will learn about Abstract Art and composition. After the theory, we will decorate some big trash cans with what we have learned. The final product will be used during the different street fairs and festivals WHEDco organizes. This workshop is free, open to community members 18 years old or older! REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED- SPACES ARE LIMITED! I have been busy lately doing what I like to do. During the winter it is easier to stay inside, and I really like introducing adults into the awesome world of creating art.
Partnering with Wonderfully Made, an organization that empowers families to raise socially and emotionally healthy children to foster positive and meaningful relationships at home and in a school setting; we created a free workshop for parents to spend the night on their own. Sometimes taking the time for yourself is not easy with children around. We shared a magical night creating Ink-Blots and sharing stories. We started a series Bringing Art Into My Life will continue with similar events soon. I also lead the Paint the Night Away event with BxArts Factory, where a group of adults replicated a painting I designed specially for that night. I really enjoyed teaching them about color mixing and empowering their creativity to take over their fears of "Am I doing it wrong?" I will be teaching more of those events soon. Subscribe to my newsletter so I can keep you posted!! The spirit of #generosity and #giving inspires us all this Holiday season! At @BxArts Factory we are crowdfunding so we can create a home for artists and community member to imagine and interact with all forms of art! Give the Gift of the Arts this Holiday Season! This is the latest mural I've done, to celebrate the The Bronx Music Heritage Center will be opening a new building soon. They are on a mission to beautify the Melrose area where the new building is going to be placed. For that mission, WHEDco has partnered with BxArts Factory. We will be bringing artists to work with the community and make the area happier. I spent a couple of days doing what I do best, creating a colorful piece of art that everyone can enjoy. Visit this mural and other beautiful murals at 163rd St and Melrose Ave, in The Bronx, New York. I had the pleasure of working with Ralph Serrano and KayLove. I want to thank Vanezza and Allison who came out to spray some paint and they were a great help!! With my Eye-Flowers (and sometimes Skull-Flowers) I want to send a message to the viewers, to make them reflect in what we are doing to Mother Nature. I've always been in the green side, and some of the things we are doing to this wold are already coming back to us. We can't keep trashing the oceans and burning our trees to plant transgenic soy beans. Just think about it. This has been a very busy summer; one of the things I have done is organizing a live painting event at Boogie on the Boulevard with BxArts Factory and HeavenBound7 Sk8 Shop. Henry, the owner of the store, repurposed about 20 old skate decks sanded them and prep them to be painted. Many artists came out that day to encourage the community to be healthy and to show how every artist has a process and creativity is everywhere!
Thanks to Alex Fernandez, Alexis Mendoza, Elizabeth Ortiz, Giannina Gutierrez, Karen Pedrosa, Laura Alvarez, Leo Mojica, Louis Nieves, Natalia Zamparini, Shak Castillo, Steven McKenzie, Vanezza Cruz, Xavier Figueroa, and Yazmeen Collazo for your artistry and commitment! Because you all did an awesome job. The past two Sundays, from 4 to 8 p.m. I've been with BxArts Factory at the Gun Hill Brewery, facilitating Art at the Bar, our very own drink and draw at The Bronx, bringing models to create live art and really cool drawing games to have a safe, fun and enriching environment where you can network, learn from each other and enjoy a cold craft beer.

As Robert Wadell says in his exhibition review - “I’m Every Woman” examines the notion of words as complement and accusation together. The panels give a left, back and right of a headless woman with words whispered or shouted around the subject as in a mug shot where sometimes people blame, shame and talk about a woman just for being who she is.-
BxArt Factory will be celebrating Women History Month with their Art Exhibition: Innuendos: The Voices of 10 Bronxite Women I will be presenting the piece "I'm every woman" It's a reflection of what we are taught, what we accept, what we overcome and what we aspire to be. We all struggle with our bodies, our insecurities, our fears, and we have to learn from the experiences we live, trying not to make the same mistake twice. We know that the issues that still affect women today are topics that must be talked about often but we hope that with this exhibition we continue the conversation and bring awareness to the community. Innuendos opens at the Andrew Freedman Home (1125 Grand Concourse) on Friday, March 6th and runs through April 1st! There will be an opening reception on the 6th but there is also have some great programming: Wednesday, March 18th we will welcome La Pluma y La Tinta and their event titled New Voices in the Boroughs: The Bronx (Buy tickets here) Friday, March 20th we will have artists Ijeoma D. Iheanacho will present her project reImagining with photos, videos and a panel of some of the women that participated in the project. There will be a great closing reception on Wednesday, April 1st with performances and more! I hope to see you all at the opening reception! For more info go to: Facebook event Page to RSVP |
